Day-Hike

SENDERO EL TIGRE

This 7 km mountain trail is the newest entrance into Corcovado National Park.  The trail enters into the park for 2.5 km and crosses through former indigenous grounds where you can encounter lost artefacts of former tribes who inhabited the territory. 

Duration: 6-7 Hours/ Difficulty: Medium/ Maximum Group Size: 6 people

LA LEONA

This beach trail is approximately 6 km and follows the Pacific Coastline to the La Leona Ranger Station of Corcovado. The tour can also be extended for a multi-day trek to Sirena Ranger Station.  

Duration: 6-7 Hours/ Difficulty: Medium

   Price* (with 13% IVA included): 79 USD per person

*Price does not include transport.  From Puerto Jimenez to the start of the hike in Carate is approx. 2 hours driving distance.  A local collectivo bus leaves at 6:15 AM from in front of the soda next to the Grupo Materiales Store.  Tickets are $9 USD each way.  Private taxis can also be arranged for $90 USD round trip.

LOS PATOS

This mountain trail travels 2 km into Corcovado on the way to Los Patos Ranger Station.  The trail includes beautiful waterfall views and can be extended for a multi-day trek to Sirena Ranger Station.

OVERNIGHT TREK

The El Tigre tour is an adventure hike along a former gold-mining trail in Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre and is one of the newest treks along the park limits of Corcovado National Park notable for providing a unique glimpse into life in rural Costa Rica. The first day of the hike includes a hike along the Tigre River up into the mountains to Piedras Blancas, a former gold mining community, concluding the day with a  night tour.  Day 2 of the trek begins with a gold panning tour and continues through the mountains ending in Carate.

Duration: 2 Days - 1 Night/ Difficulty: Medium-Hard

   Price* (with 13% IVA included): $307 USD per person (with transport) or $277 USD per person (without private transport)**

Multi-Day Hike

SIRENA

The overnight treks to Sirena Ranger Station are the oldest trail routes into Corcovado and the most popular amongst tourists.  Tours to Sirena can be arranged for multiple days, the most popular being 2-day/1-night hikes or 3-day/2-night hikes.  Please let us know if you would like us to help you plan a modified tour route for you to address your desired travel plans.

Difficulty: Medium-Hard

   Price* (with 13% IVA included): 2 Days, 1 Night - $230 USD per person (with transport) or $200 USD per person without private transport*

3 Days, 2 Nights - $345 USD per person (with transport) or $305 USD per person without private transport*

*The local collectivo bus travels from Carate to Puerto Jimenez, leaving at 4PM .  Tickets are $9 USD.

EL SALTO WATERFALL

Enjoy a short hike along the Tigre river through the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve to a waterfall and natural swimming hole.

It's the perfect spot to cool off, relax, and enjoy the beautiful natural landscape!

MATAPALO HIKE

Hiking in Matapalo offers a chance to experience a variety of natural landscapes all in one tour. Trails travel through both primary and secondary forests, up into the mountains, along rivers with beautiful waterfall views, and ends along the Pacific coastline on the beach.

Duration: 6 hours

BIRDING TOUR

With nearly 10% of the world's species found here on the Peninsula, Osa is truly the birder's paradise!  Take a tour through the community of Dos Brazos into the surrounding rainforest in search of the more than 300 species of birds that call Osa home!

NIGHT TOUR

Many of the Osa's more elusive animals, including many species of frogs, snakes and other nocturnal mammals, are much more active at night.  Enjoy the enchanting effects of the jungle by night with a moonlit guided tour!  Please note, the night hike only runs on certain nights, as the moon has a large influence on the activities of the animals, so reservation is essential.  

Duration: 3-4 hours (starts at 6pm)

BIOLOGICAL MONITORING TOUR

Want to learn more about the scientific aspects of the local flora and fauna while helping to support our community biological monitoring program?  Join our specially trained guides on a biological monitoring tour and help them collect data on the local wildlife you encounter along the way.  Enjoy all the nature and wonder of Osa with an educational twist!  Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you can't still learn something along the way!

MOUNTAIN TREKS

The Tourism Association of Cerro Ena (ATURENA) works to develop rural, eco-tourism projects in the community of San Jeronimo, a small rural community in the Southern Pacific region of Costa Rica on the outskirts of Chirripó National Park and Parque Internacional La Amistad. Overnight mountain treks include trails up to Cerro Chirripó (3,820 meters) and community trail Cerro Ena (3,126 meters). TOUR

This tour travels along mountain trails with views of the Golfo Dulce and ends at a local butterfly garden where you will receive a presentation on the growth and development of local butterfly species.

COOKING CLASSES

Learn how to make traditional dishes from local community members! Food options include picadilllo, tortillas, patacones, and empanadas amongst other traditional Costa Rican dishes. You'll have the chance to feast on your wonderful creations and, even better, will have a little piece of Costa Rican culture to bring back with you to your home kitchen!

GOLD PANNING TOUR

Our gold panning tours allow visitors to experience the unique culture and history of the Osa Peninsula and learn first-hand the artisanal gold panning practice through expert local "oreros."  You might  even strike it lucky and find some gold of your own!

Need to relax? Book a 1-hour massage with our local masseuse in between your excursions to help you unwind! Massages start at $45 an hour.

*For tours longer than 3 hours we recommend packing a lunch or making alternative meal arrangements. Meals to-go can be purchased for an additional $6USD per person.

**Due to intermittent rain showers we recommend bringing plastic bags to protect valuables from getting wet.

***Though rubber boots are preferred (due to wet terrain and rain showers) we recommend wearing rubber boots or hiking shoes for all hikes/ treks.  Sneakers are not advised.  Closed-toed shoes are required for horseback riding tours.
